NAVREF UPDATES – october 21, 2009

comments in handbook 1200.17

Attached are draft NAVREF comments on the draft revision of Handbook 1200.17 that was distributed for field review last Friday.  One document contains NAVREF’s suggested edits and comments in the format requested by Kim Collins.  The other is the entire handbook redlined to reflect NAVREF’s recommended edits.

Revised VHA Handbook 1200.17 10-11-091 Edits only

Revised VHA Handbook 1200.17 10-11-091 - Redlined

The NAVREF board and staff are very appreciative that the Handbook Work Group led by Kim Collins thoughtfully considered NAVREF’s comments on previous drafts and was open to alternative viewpoints.  In our view, the lengthy deliberations over each clause resulted in increased understanding of the NPCs among work group participants and were also educational for NAVREF staff and board members involved in commenting.

I know that many NPCs are preparing their own comments that will be submitted through facility channels.  If you wish to endorse NAVREF’s comments and/or append your own, please feel free to do so.   If you feel the NAVREF comments omitted an important point, please call 301-565-5005 or send me an email (bwest@navref.org) before 5:00 p.m. East Coast time on Thursday, October 22.

If you would like to share your comments with NAVREF, please send me a cc, but be aware that you also must submit them directly to Kim through VA channels in order for them to be considered by the work group.

Thank you.
