The VA
Nonprofit Program Office (NPPO) will begin conducting site visits of
NPCs in September 2009 with the goal of completing all of the visits
before the end of the year. The purpose is to evaluate NPCs to
establish a baseline understanding of their compliance with
organizational, managerial and operational requirements. The results of
the site visits will be used to determine future VHA oversight of NPCs.
The NPC Evaluation Checklist (linked below) developed by the VHA
NPC Steering Committee will
be the primary tool used to perform the NPPO site visits, supplemented
by each NPC’s most recent annual reports to VA and spot-checks of
NPC documentation.
To
assist NAVREF members in preparing for the NPPO site visits, linked
below is a document containing 1) a discussion of the basis of each checklist evaluation
item; and 2) suggested documentation to provide to reviewers.
NPCs may
wish to provide the site visitors with a binder containing the
documentation that verifies compliance. Tabbed Avery dividers
created to organize the binder are linked below.
Do not
hesitate to contact the NAVREF office if you have questions or need
additional information. Additionally, NAVREF board members have offered
to review and comment on an NPC’s documentation prior to the NPC’s NPPO
site visit. If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please
contact the NAVREF office.
