The Introductory Period

Discussion

It is common practice for newly hired employees to have an introductory period of 90 days from the date of hire and there may be instances when an extension of up to 60 days may be added for further evaluation of the new employee’s progress.

Employees are expected to become familiar with the policies, procedures and services of NPC and the VAMC during the introductory period. It is also the time when new employees are expected to learn and understand their responsibilities of their job. Any questions regarding job responsibilities, policies or procedures should be directed to the supervisor or NPC Administration. Understanding these responsibilities is essential to successful employment.

Completion of the introductory period does not imply, nor should the employee infer continued employment for any specified period of time. All employees are hired on an “at-will” basis.
