NPCs should have a hiring
process that is non-discriminatory and selects employees based on
qualifications. This process should include the following
In the NPC environment, NPC staff may not
be involved in all phases of the interviewing and selection process,
particularly for research personnel. However, to protect the NPC from
liability based on the presumption of discriminatory practices in the
hiring process, the NPC should offer PIs training in those procedures,
should have the supervising PI document the procedure through which the
selection was made and/or should establish policies that require NPC
staff involvement.
