NAVREF ACCELERATOR FUND
Help Support the Enhancement of VA Research for All
NAVREF has initiated a new campaign to support our efforts to bring more industry-sponsored clinical trials to veterans at VA medical centers. For many patients with cancer, posttraumatic stress disorder, or traumatic brain injury, investigational therapies are the last, best hope. Yet less than 2% of clinical trials sponsored by pharmaceutical companies include VA hospitals, according to one industry estimate. To correct this shortfall, NAVREF is engaging stakeholders in the medical research, pharmaceutical, health policy and veterans affairs spaces as donors and supporters with a 3-year goal of raising $1 million.
Our goal for 2020 is to raise $200,000 to seed the NAVREF Accelerator Fund to achieve three (3) primary objectives:
· $100,000 will be dedicated to providing greater access to the 9+ million diverse Veteran patient cohort by supporting a centralized “one-stop shop” designed to facilitate and streamline multi-site clinical trial start-up across VA hospitals
· $50,000 will ensure more frequent and robust member training and education focused on clinical trial skills and credentials
· $50,000 will support 2-3 seed grants of up to $25,000 competitively awarded to member organizations who justify a critical need for a cash infusion to cover short-term investments that will stimulate long-term capability improvements to support clinical research.
